Welcome Yuna our new nursing student

We are very pleased to welcome our 5th nursing student Yuna Shahi to the DFN family.  Yuna is in her 2nd year of study at Patan Academy Nursing College and we are delighted to be able to support her after her father was sadly killed in an accident working in Dubai.  Without our support, Yuna would have been unable to complete her studies. All our medical students are hard at work, but here's our most recent news from three of them - Purna, Dhanendra and Santosh: SANTOSH has been studying at PAHS now for the past four months during which time he’s completed the first part of his foundation block and his study of principal human biology. For the next four weeks he is out in the community learning about the responsibilities that community health volunteers have, in particular in regards to women’s health and contraception. We can now share the excellent news that two of our nurses, Binita and Apsara, have passed their first year exams with excellent results.  CONGRATULATIONS Binita and Apsara - we are all very proud of your hard work.  Our other two nursing students, Kriti and Prabha, continue to work hard with their studies at Jumla nursing college.              

Latest news from Dr Lalit

Lalit has just completed his 4 years commitment to DFN to work in a remote area of Nepal. We are extremely pleased to report that his work has significantly contributed to healthcare in remote Nepal, and to date he has undertaken over 200 Caesarean sections, saving the lives of many mothers and babies. He is now also a skilled vasectomy surgeon, and has over 1000 procedures under his belt - a significant contribution to long-term contraception.  Although Lalit is very keen to continue working in rural Nepal, he has been unable to secure postgraduate training within his home country.  But thanks to generous donations we are now able to ...

We are very pleased to welcome Santosh Upadhaya into the DFN family as our newest medical student.  Santosh comes from Jumla District in mid-western Nepal, his father is a farmer and his mother a housewife who looks after his disabled uncle.  Santosh has two older sisters.  Santosh has written the following: "Initially, I want to thank you from the core of my heart for selecting me.
