We are delighted to share some of the results from our recent health camp in Mahawai Rural Municipality, a community where geography and socioeconomic challenges have been significant barriers to healthcare access.
In collaboration with the Oda Foundation, our team of doctors and nurses travelled to Kalikot District to deliver two days of specialist healthcare to the local population, including obstetrics and gynaecology, dental, orthopoedic and dermatology care. The response from the community was positive, and the initial numbers reflect just how great the unmet need for care is in this region.
Female participation was significantly higher, reflecting both the persistent gap in women’s access to specialist services in remote communities and the trust the community placed in our team to provide dignified, appropriate care.
The high participation rate and the breadth of services provided demonstrate the vital role that outreach camps play in bridging this gap. They are not a substitute for permanent local specialist capacity, but they are a meaningful intervention that reaches people who would otherwise go without.

We are deeply grateful to the Oda Foundation for their ongoing partnership, to the local health teams who worked alongside us, and to every member of the Mahawai community who came forward for care. Watch this space for more impact news from the camp!
“Thank you for providing me the opportunity, which felt like a dream come true to share my knowledge and experience which I have learned during my residency.”
