Superstar Runner, Didz, Completes 24-Hour Challenge to Support Nepal Flood Relief

Incredible endurance runner, Didz, of Ultra Nomad Lab, completed a gruelling 24-hour treadmill challenge in support of Doctors for Nepal’s Emergency Flood Appeal this weekend.

The event, held from midday Saturday 12th September to midday Sunday 13th September, formed part of a wider Artwave exhibition exploring themes of endurance, fatigue, and survival. As Didz ran through exhaustion and physical strain, visitors were invited to reflect on a very different kind of endurance: the ongoing hardship faced by communities in Nepal recovering from devastating flooding.

After finishing the 24-hour run, Didz slept inside the installation itself, a gesture referencing the exhausted “dirt nap” familiar to ultra-runners, while acknowledging the precarious, uncertain rest experienced by people living through emergency conditions.

Saturday evening’s events extended beyond the run. At 5:30pm, attendees gathered for a screening of Health in the Himalayas, our short film exploring healthcare challenges in western Nepal. This was followed at 6pm by talks from representatives of both Doctors for Nepal and Ultra Nomad Lab, who spoke about the appeal’s ongoing work and the thinking behind the installation.

The exhibition itself remains open to the public from 5th to 20th September, running daily from 10:30am to 4pm at The Soap Factory on Phoenix Place, North Street, Lewes.

We are so grateful to Didz and everyone who came along to support.

Funds will go directly toward supporting communities affected by recent flooding in Nepal. We are continuing to accept donations to the Emergency Flood Appeal here.
