Introducing Our New Patron: Dame Joanna Lumley
We are absolutely delighted to announce that Dame Joanna Lumley has accepted the position of patron for Doctors For Nepal. Dame Joanna says:
“I am proud and happy to be the patron for this excellent charity, which punches far above its weight and encapsulates everything I believe in”.
She has a deep personal connection with Nepal, her father having served with the 6th Gurkha Rifles during the Second World War. Her name has long been synonymous with Nepal, particularly her involvement in the successful campaign to ensure that Gurkhas who fought for the UK gained the same rights as their British and Commonwealth counterparts.
We very much look forward to working with Dame Joanna, and believe that her representation will endorse and amplify our work in Nepal.
