DFN-Funded Equipment Makes an Impact in Bajura

Thanks to a DFN donation, another piece of equipment is now being put to full use in a rural area, making a significant impact on maternal healthcare there. The donation, sent to one of our fantastic charity partners, PHASE Nepal, facilitated acquisition of a USG (ultrasound machine). Six nurses were provided twenty-one days of comprehensive training on the use of the machine between April and May this year, and are now either utilizing it, or planning to do so in their respective health posts in the coming months. The machine was first used in Rugin village where a PHASE Auxiliary Nurse Midwife examined fifteen pregnant women, including one ...

Dr. Lalit Returns From Rural Hospital Visits

DFN consultant Dr. Lalit recently returned from a successful trip to Jumla, Mugu, and Manma, three of the rural locations that DFN serves. The primary goal of Dr. Lalit's visit was to ensure that the equipment donated through last year's equipment appeal was being used effectively and that all relevant staff were trained as necessary. Dr. Lalit checked on the CTG machines and ECG machines that had reached the destinations earlier in the year, and offered his services for ongoing training and support in interpreting results. The trip was also an opportunity for Dr. Lalit to meet with the Deans of Karnali Academy to discuss DFN's partnership with ...

Nurse Satya Starts a Brand New Role!

Congratulations to DFN nurse Satya who has just started a brand new job at Oda Foundation in Kalikot. We are happy that through our partnership with Oda Foundation, we have been able to create and fund this role. Her job will involve both clinical work and health education for children in the local school. She has hit the ground running since arriving in the remote area of Kalikot this week, and is already connecting with ...
