Yuna’s life as a student nurse
Yuna is in her third year of study to become a nurse. She was recently given a 2 week placement in the labour and maternity ward at Patan Hospital in Kathmandu, where she studies. The labour and maternity ward has 50 maternity beds and 20 labour beds - per month the patient flow is 900 inpatients and 150 outpatients. Here's what Yuna has to say about her placement:

Royal Parks Half Marathon 2019
Team DFN, led by our founder Dr Kate Yarrow will be pounding the parks of London in this year's Royal Parks Half Marathon, all in aid of Doctors for Nepal. This stunning event is held every year in central London, taking in some of the capital’s world-famous landmarks on closed roads, and four of London’s eight Royal Parks – Hyde Park, Green Park, St James’s Park and Kensington Gardens.

New DFN nursing student Neelam
We are very happy to announce that, thanks to your generous donations, we are able to offer additional funds to a new DFN nursing student, Neelam Yadav, to enable her to continue her nursing studies at Patan Academy of Health Sciences Nursing College in Kathmandu. Neelam comes from the Terai region in Nepal and is 17 years old. Her parents are impoverished farmers who lost their home and income in recent flooding. Neelam is the youngest of 6 siblings. Up until now, her paternal Uncle has been trying to support her studies but cannot continue financial assistance...
Santosh tells us about his home life
Our youngest medical student is Santosh. We asked him to tell us a bit more about his reasons to want to train to become a doctor, and also about what life is like at home in his remote village in Jumla. Here is his account:

DFN supports first midwifery degree-level course in Nepal
Our Founder, Dr Kate Yarrow, has just returned from an extremely busy and successful week in Nepal. We can now proudly announce that Doctors for Nepal has just signed agreements to support the first ever midwifery degree-level course in Nepal: we will provide scholarships to the most needy and deserving, impoverished students from the Karnali region.
