Huge congratulations to Dr Prakash!
We are hugely proud to announce that our 4th scholarship recipient has passed his medical finals to become our 4th Doctor For Nepal; congratulations Dr Prakash Thakulla!!
Prakash has passed his final year 5 medical student exams and will graduate later in the year. He is now entering his 1 year internship as a doctor at Patan Hospital in Kathmandu, after which he will apply for a job as a doctor back in his remote region of Nepal.
News from medical student Jeevan
Jeevan has just sent us some great pictures and news. We have been fundraising in Australia to be able to purchase Littmann stethoscopes for our students - Jeevan was VERY pleased to receive his stethoscope and writes:

Student nurse Apsara at work on the ward
Apsara is one of our two nursing students in their second year of studies for a 3-year nursing degree course at the Nepal Institute of Health Science, Kathmandu. Apsara works extremely hard both with her studies and when she's on the ward - keep up the great work Apsara, we are very proud of all your efforts. When she finishes her training, Apsara will go back to her home village in Gorkha District to work as a qualified nurse. Below are pictures of Apsara's typical day on the wards -
Trustee visit to Nepal
In November/December 2018 Dr Kate Yarrow, founder, Nigel Lewers, Trustee and Cesca Eaton, UK administrator, flew to Kathmandu to visit all our medical students and doctors and some of our nursing students. It's very important for us to to stay connected with our "DFN family" in Nepal, and the time spent with them each year, face-to-face is invaluable. We held various meetings and workshops, including how to make 'video diaries' from remote hospitals. Plus the use of social media and logging of cases to show productivity.

Congratulations Kamal
We are very proud to announce that one of our third year medical students KAMAL has passed his 3rd year final exams with flying colours. We are extremely pleased for him and know that he worked very hard to achieve such great results. Kamal was posted in the Psychiatry department and will now move into Anesthesia, followed by Dentistry and Radiology. Huge congratulations Kamal from all at DFN.
