Dhanendra organises 1,800 masks for his remote region
3rd year DFN medical student Dhanendra heard that health workers in his remote part of Nepal - Dailekh, Kalikot and Bajura - have no access at all to basic PPE i.e. masks. He really wanted to do something about this and was talking to his friend Bhagyashwari Singh who is studying nursing in USA. Together they came up with a plan.

NEWS FROM OUR DOCTORS FIGHTING COVID-19
Dr Nahakul and Dr Meena are both in remote regions of Nepal and have yet to register any cases of COVID-19 in their small hospitals.
Nahakul says "We are trying to reduce elective work, with many of our pregnant patients being able to follow up by mobile from home. They are asked to self quarantine. We have established a health desk at district entry point and all the people have to fill in their personal details and go through initial health check ups. And we also established an isolation ward in the hospital. We are running regular drills and trainings in case we have a positive cases. We do have some sanitiser but are relying more on hand ...
CONGRATULATIONS TO TEAMDFN
Huge congratulations to TEAMDFN who ran for us in the Brighton Half Marathon yesterday. It was a beautiful sunny day and our five runners - Bea, Tim, Issy, Eli and Connor - all excelled themselves. We cannot thank them enough for all their fundraising efforts - so far they have raised over £1,900 between them. All of this money will go directly to help fund our students in Nepal. Without the amazing fundraising efforts of people like Bea, Tim, Issy, Eli and Connor our charity couldn't survive - THANK YOU THANK YOU.

DFN CHARITY BIKE RIDE JUNE 2019

ARE YOU AN EXPERIENCED CYCLIST? FANCY FUNDRAISING FOR DOCTORS FOR NEPAL?
We are looking for 15 experienced cyclists to take part in our charity bike ride in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park, with the challenge to climb the equivalent height of Mount Everest from base camp on a bike – circa 3400m – to raise much needed funds to improve healthcare in rural Nepal.

Congratulations Kamal
We are very proud to announce that one of our third year medical students KAMAL has passed his 3rd year final exams with flying colours. We are extremely pleased for him and know that he worked very hard to achieve such great results. Kamal was posted in the Psychiatry department and will now move into Anesthesia, followed by Dentistry and Radiology. Huge congratulations Kamal from all at DFN.
