ARE YOU AN EXPERIENCED CYCLIST? FANCY FUNDRAISING FOR DOCTORS FOR NEPAL?
We are looking for 15 experienced cyclists to take part in our charity bike ride in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park, with the challenge to climb the equivalent height of Mount Everest from base camp on a bike – circa 3400m – to raise much needed funds to improve healthcare in rural Nepal.

Student nurse Apsara at work on the ward
Apsara is one of our two nursing students in their second year of studies for a 3-year nursing degree course at the Nepal Institute of Health Science, Kathmandu. Apsara works extremely hard both with her studies and when she's on the ward - keep up the great work Apsara, we are very proud of all your efforts. When she finishes her training, Apsara will go back to her home village in Gorkha District to work as a qualified nurse. Below are pictures of Apsara's typical day on the wards -
News from medical student Santosh
Santosh recently received the results for his latest 1st Year exam - we are pleased to announce that he passed with flying colours, gaining marks in the top percentage in all categories. WELL DONE SANTOSH. He and his classmates were then sent out into the community to a local medical post where Santosh interviewed a number of patients, doctors and nurses. He also volunteered at a local school, helping to teach the children Maths. He is now back at his medical school working hard - here's Santosh's own account of his experiences:

We have 5 free places to give away for the 2019 Royal Parks Half Marathon, to be held on Sunday 13th October 2019. In return for a free place and a free DFN running vest, all we ask is that you fundraise a minimum of £350 for Doctors for Nepal. Please don't be put off by this minimum amount - most people manage to surprise themselves and raise more.

Trustee visit to Nepal
In November/December 2018 Dr Kate Yarrow, founder, Nigel Lewers, Trustee and Cesca Eaton, UK administrator, flew to Kathmandu to visit all our medical students and doctors and some of our nursing students. It's very important for us to to stay connected with our "DFN family" in Nepal, and the time spent with them each year, face-to-face is invaluable. We held various meetings and workshops, including how to make 'video diaries' from remote hospitals. Plus the use of social media and logging of cases to show productivity.
