Nursing Students

DFN Nursing scholarships.

We currently support Arju, who is studying at Karnali Academy of Health Sciences. When she finishes her study, she will join our growing team of qualified nurses and will return to a remote area to practice for a minimum of 2 years.

We are thrilled that we are able to award more nursing scholarships in 2023/2024.

We have collaborated with PHASE, an NGO that aims to empower isolated communities through health, education and livelihood opportunities, and with KAHS (Karnali Academy of Health Sciences). Our PHASE nurses students were auxiliary nurse midwives (lower level of health worker), before DFN sponsored their studies.

Scholarships cover:

  • Tuition fees
  • If necessary – also hostel fees, food, and books
  • There are now some students to whom we give scholarships for hostel fees, food and books alone

It costs approximately £5,000 to train a nurse in Nepal

The scholars are contracted to work in a remote area for a minimum of 2 years in return for their funding. To apply for a scholarship, click here.
