Medical Students

We currently support four medical students. Two students are studying at Patan Academy of Health Sciences in Kathmandu. Once they graduate they will work as interns at Patan Hospital in Kathamandu, before returning to work as doctors in their remote regions, where they will be bonded for two years. Our other two students are studying at Karnali Academy of Health Sciences, in the remote region of Jumla. They will continue to work in rural west Nepal when they finish their studies for at least two years. All of our students' education over the 2020/2021 academic year was severely hampered by Covid-19. All teaching was online and many had to return to their villages with very poor internet access. Many of the students found themselves helping their families and fellow villagers survive the pandemic. Cases have improved in 2022-2023 and we're proud of how our students stayed driven during this challenging time. We're happy for them as they continue their studies with restrictions lifted.

I have had a dream to become a doctor and to serve the people of my home village for many years of my life. I would not be able to study for my MBBS smoothly if DFN hadn’t helped me - I am very grateful for this.
