Doctors for Nepal has signed agreements with the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS) in Jumla, to support the first ever midwifery degree-level course in Nepal. We will provide scholarships to the most needy and deserving, impoverished students from the Karnali region. We are extremely pleased to announce that in 2020 we successfully selected two new Doctors for Nepal midwifery students, Parbati Bhandari and Aarati Budthapa, both of whom come from the Karnali region. Without our support, neither Parbati nor Aarati would be able to study to become midwives. Once qualified they are bonded for 2 years to work as midwives in their local rural areas.
