Dr Lalit goes back to his district with UK elective student

We are incredibly pleased to announce that Lalit - our first DFN doctor, has secured himself another year in the very isolated district of Kalikot. The longer he is able to work there, the bigger the impact he will have on his community. Medical student Louis, from the UK, has just arrived there on his elective placement, and will be spending a month under Lalit's supervision to learn about healthcare in remote Nepal. Fundraising Charity Event 11/05/14

WE ARE VERY EXCITED TO PRESENT THE DOCTORS FOR NEPAL CHARITY EVENT: The evening comprises of the Premiere of a fascinating and thought provoking documentary about the lack of qualified medical care within rural Nepal and how Doctors For Nepal are helping to combat this. The documentary will be followed by a Nepalese dinner and traditional entertainment, and then by our fantastic charity auction. A WARM WELCOME FOR OUR NEW STUDENT!

We are very pleased to announce that we have selected a new student for full scholarship at Patan Academy: Prakash Thakulla is 18 years old, and from the far west region of Achham in Nepal. He comes from an impoverished background, and in his words "..your generous financial support has allowed me to be a step closer to my dream..to concentrate on my education..and inspired me to help others by giving to my community..". He started his medical education last week and we wish him every success with his studies. LALIT GRADUATES

Reflections on Nepal trip December 2013 Dr Kate Yarrow I have just spent 9 days in Nepal filming a documentary for the charity, and celebrating our first students' graduation. It was incredibly hard work, but also the most the most rewarding of moments for the charity. The documentary will be released in April. Read below for some of the hurdles we overcame, and feelings generated from the trip. As usual, I have left Nepal with a feeling of sadness at leaving behind Lalit and the other students, their families, and everyone else who has made our visit so welcoming.
