Jeevan Returns from District Posting

Fifth year medical student Jeevan has returned from his district hospital posting in Gorkha, Gandaki Province.  ‘I returned from Gorkha district hospital after completing the four month district hospital posting. I was posted at Amppipal hospital at Gorkha district. The posting mainly included clinical learning along with health office and administrative learnings. Exam Success!

Many of our students have just finished exams or are in the process of taking them. Studying for exams can be stressful at the best of times, but many of our students have also reported overcoming hurdles specific to Nepal such as lack of space to study, noise, problems with computers and equipment and connectivity issues. Having also emerged from several months of disruption to their normal routines due to the Covid-19 pandemic, studying has certainly been a challenge. International Day of the Nurse 2022

We’re thrilled to be celebrating the work of our nurses today, on International Day of the Nurse 2022. We continue to collaborate with NGO, PHASE, which aims to empower isolated communities through health, education and livelihood opportunities to support nursing education and offer our qualified nurses opportunities for work in remote areas.  Our PHASE nursing students were auxiliary nurse midwives, and were able to go on to complete full nursing training with our scholarships. A Celebration of our Midwives

Today is the International Day of the Midwife and we are reflecting on the importance of well-trained midwives as a vital solution to the many challenges of maternal and new-born healthcare in rural Nepal. With our support, our outstanding midwifery students study on the first midwifery degree-level courses in Nepal. We provide scholarships to deserving, impoverished students from the Karnali region.  Our current students, Parbati Bhandari and Aarati Budthapa, would not have been able to study to become midwives, without our support. New Operations Manager

This month we bid farewell to our previous operations manager, Cesca Eaton, who has done an incredible job in the role for the last seven years. She will be missed by the UK team and trustees, as well as the scholars in Nepal, who she has built strong and caring relationships with over her time in the post.
